Healthy Kids, Healthy Future Technical Assistance Program Virtual Convening
Nemours Children’s Health hosted the 2023 Healthy Kids, Healthy Future Technical Assistance Program (HKHF TAP) Virtual Convening on June 6 and 7, 2023.
The convening provided attendees the opportunity to connect, learn, and collaborate around healthy eating and physical activity in early care and education settings and systems.
HKHF TAP activities are made possible with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and implemented by Nemours Children’s. Under HKHF TAP, Nemours Children’s provides technical assistance (TA), tools/resources, and financial support to embed obesity prevention into state ECE systems and/or support facility level interventions aimed at improving ECE provider practices.
Purpose
Through this event, state professionals working to create healthier early care and education (ECE) programs and to impact state ECE systems change came together to learn more about nutrition and physical activity topics and interventions. National and state partners shared strategies on outdoor learning environments and CACFP GIS mapping.
Who participated
Individuals from state or local organizations or agencies working to improve nutrition and physical activity in ECE settings and systems. Participants representing 36 states (HKHF TAP, SPAN (CDC’s State Physical Activity and Nutrition grant), and Ambassador states (states that do not receive HKHF TAP or SPAN funding)) all joined the two-day event.
