During Learning Session 1 of the PALS content, trainers walk participants through a physical activity self-assessment examining their practices, environments, and policies. To accommodate the different self-assessments available for early care and education programs and providers, there are multiple editions of PALS curriculum available for trainers and agencies.

The February 2025 Wellness Workbook edition is designed for states that do not hold a paid Go NAPSACC (GNS) subscription. This 2025 edition uses the Nemours Wellness Workbook physical activity assessment and is available in English and Spanish.

The Go NAPSACC edition is designed for states or agencies that hold a current Go NAPSACC subscription. This edition uses a paper copy of the Go NAPSACC Infant and Child Physical Activity Self-Assessment. Trainers do not need to be GNS consultants or have access to the online Go NAPSACC platform. This edition is available in English and Spanish.

*Colorado, Maryland, New York, and Ohio have unique editions of the PALS curriculum containing state-specific self-assessment tools. Trainers and agencies from these states can connect with Nemours or their state contact to obtain these materials.

The PALS Implementation Guide is targeted at state, community and agency leaders. The goals of the document are to:

1) Help program managers and leaders bring PALS to their state or community. This document includes guidance, checklists and links to resources to assist state agencies, organizations or individuals to successfully plan and deliver PALS trainings to early care and education (ECE) providers in their location.

2) Support new trainers in current PALS states. As states and organizations experience turnover in staff previously trained in PALS, the Implementation Guide offers guidance and considerations for orienting new trainers in PALS.
